This position is a Program Support Specialist, GS- 0301-12 working for the R1- Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Office.
Location- Honolulu, Hawaii

Duties
As a Program Support Specialist your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with Native Hawaiian organizations, and indigenous Pacific Islander organizations, committees, etc., relative to pertinent Service programs, projects, initiatives, etc., as they interact with Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander interests.
Serves as Pacific Island Fish and Wildlife Office's (PIFWO) primary liaison with the indigenous cultures of Hawai'i, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Applying an Indigenous lens to creating or analyzing data and information-indigenizing the ways information is being collected, analyzed, used, and shared.
Works closely with Native Hawaiians and indigenous Pacific Islanders to facilitate collaboration and open communication between indigenous Pacific Islander groups and the Service, and to provide technical assistance as needed.
Exercises sound judgment in recognizing and treating sensitive issues of local community, regional and national concern. Keeps key management officials informed of sensitive and/or potentially controversial program issues and problems.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualification.
Minimum Qualification [GS-12]
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience must include: Facilitating consultation and communication between indigenous organizations, committees, etc., (or similar) to support the inclusion of Indigenous and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (ITEK) alongside Western Scientific data and research; Developing and carrying out implementation guidance and plans for ITEK inclusion in decision making processes; Leading the development of natural and/or cultural resource conservation plans; and Recognizing sensitive issues of tribal, regional, and national concern and keeping key management officials informed of sensitive and/or potentially controversial issues or concerns.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically,
i. Area of Consideration.
ii. Time-in-grade (TIG) requirements as specified in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
iii. Time after competitive appointment as specified in 5 CFR 330.502.
iv. Qualification requirements outlined in OPM's Qualifications Standards for General Schedule Positions or for Federal Wage System (FWS), wage grade positions, applicants are evaluated using the OPM Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations and the job element examining method
