You will serve as a COMPUTER ASSISTANT in the Naval Warfare Studies Institute (NWSI) of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.

Duties

You will serve as the Athena Project Officer for Naval Warfare Studies Institute (NWSI) to provide specific program support for the Athena Collaborative Research Tool and lead the implementation of and updates to the Athena Tool. You will coordinate with internal/external leadership to assess current and future requirements, prioritize updates with respect to emergent requirements, and provide training to internal and external stakeholders. You will provide overall system monitoring for the Athena Collaborative Research Tool resolving processing problems utilizing subject matter expertise or directly liaison with outside programmers correct error conditions. You will work with faculty and student research end users to identify problems with applications, operating systems, or hardware that are difficult to pinpoint. You will plan, schedule, and direct the transfer of program and/or data files from local servers to cloud-based storage; maintains records of programs and data, and schedule restoration or recovery from backup files as needed. You will prepare detailed oral and written reports of all implemented updates, changes, or fixes to NWSI leadership.

  • May require occasional travel on temporary duty up to 10 percent of the time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Applying knowledge of computer hardware and software and how they are interconnected to execute applications on local and cloud-based servers; 2) Interpreting system codes and software manufacturer manuals and tutorials to independently resolve system problems; 3) Coordinating and implementing modifications and updates to software and computer programs to meet system requirements; and 4) Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
