Employee will be assigned to Veteran Transportation Service (VTS), VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System, Marion, IN, serving as a Transportation Assistant and acting as primary contact to veterans for transportation needs.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Collaborates with the Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, and evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the transportation services program.
Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information.
Analyzes data and generates a variety of reports.
Reviews documents, reports, or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
Interacts and communicates with various other transportation services (e.g., Emergency Medical Service; Volunteer Transportation Network; Disabled American Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars, etc.)
Manages the beneficiary travel program; determines program eligibility; and processes requests.
Determines method of payment for authorized and unauthorized ambulance claims submitted for consideration.
Processes claims for patient reimbursement of travel expenses.
Collaborates with fiscal personnel to manage inpatient funds and budget needs.
Reconciles vouchers against authorizations for accuracy prior to preparing certifications for payment.
Plans and provides services in program areas of electronic records management, driver scheduling setup and management, and space utilization.
Provides technical advice and guidance to management and staff on transportation services, including requirements and implications, and how provided services can assist in accomplishing their missions and programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: coordinating and scheduling transportation services for patients; collecting and tracking program-specific data; processing travel reimbursement claims; generating a variety of correspondence and reports; and utilizing various computer software programs and databases.
