Duties

Participates in the preparation of production engineering, configuration and data management, and technical field support. Provide technical input to electrical engineers to influence the development of electrical components and systems integrations. Integrate and install electrical systems and components on U.S. military ground platforms and support systems and develop/provide installation instructions. Operates and maintains, as required, a variety of metal cutting, welding, assembly, finishing and inspection equipment. Determine the sequence of operations and performs layout, fabrication, assembly, installation and testing of experimental components, assembly, subsystem and system level hardware, material, apparatus, and equipment. Conduct on-the-spot troubleshooting to identify issues in ground vehicle systems components, and in support equipment/test equipment and conduct corrective actions. Cooperate with electrical engineers to review and assess technical data and provide corrective suggestions (a.k.a. ?Red-Lines?) to correct the developed technical data and engineering drawings. Set up, adjust, modify and operate all equipment, use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, measuring scales etc., also have ability to program, operate and maintain Fanuc Robotics or other welding cells. Designs and fabricates fixtures using industry standard techniques to facilitate the design, repair, and/or fabrication of custom applications, structures, enclosures, pressure vessels, surrogate vehicle and systems components, etc.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify at the DE-02/GS-05 thru GS-11 equivalent grade level: Your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE-01, GS-04 equivalent grade level in the Federal service which includes; Experience using AutoCAD to review and edit contract drawings, planning and engineering designs, and/or production of engineering plans; experience applying engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to the full range of engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural and environmental) required for the design, layout, and/or execution processes of operations in order to provide input on engineering projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (DE-01/GS-04). OR Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. This position is part of the Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC), Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project. CCDC Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Management Demonstration Projection. The DE-02 pay band is equivalent to the GS-05 step 1 through GS-11 step 10 grade levels.
