You will serve as an Industrial Engineer at the Equipment Support and Industrial Equipment Lead in the Aviation Support Equipment (ASE) of FLTREADCEN ASE SOLOMONS ISLAND MD. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will provide overall program management, oversight for plant equipment maintenance and sustainment efforts maintaining and increasing equipment readiness, facilitating enterprise equipment assessments when necessary. You will apply complex fact-finding, analytical, problem-solving methods and techniques, and root cause analysis to identify interrelated program/competency problems, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action or solutions. You will facilitate industrial equipment procurement and maintenance, provide technical guidance, knowledge, and experience to support the assessment and prioritized replacement of industrial plant equipment and support equipment. You will Investigate new technological opportunities in industry and ensure collaboration will meet sustainment needs across the FRC Aviation Support Equipment (ASE) enterprise. You will coordinate cross functional industrial equipment teams and monitor pilots for enterprise and local solutions involving all stakeholders. You will assess logistics, equipment, infrastructure, tools, databases and processes to identify shortfalls and requirements.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Understanding the roles and responsibilities of related disciplines of the engineering, infrastructure and logistics requirements along with plant equipment capability functions, and established practices in the field; 2)Applying knowledge of concepts, principles, and methods of industrial analysis for plant equipment and maintenance equipment, and of the specific physical and performance characteristics of aviation maintenance facilities and equipment relationships to program readiness and cost, in order to account for multiple interrelated technical factors; and 3) Demonstrating interpersonal communication skills to develop constructive and positive relationships with Group Heads, Leadership and Site Leads for planning, implementing, and/or carrying out all assigned actions. Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
