You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER in the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.
Duties
You will conduct daily inspections of posts and take immediate action to correct discrepancies noted. You will perform motorized or walking patrols of the installation.
You will evaluate situations to respond using the minimum degree of force necessary to neutralize an incident.
You will set up and conduct checkpoint/roadblocks at various locations throughout the installation. You will detain those who violate rules, regulations, and pertinent laws on public or private property.
You will draft documents (e.g., sworn statements, affidavits, in-depth reports) where the placement of victims, cars, and responsibility are crucial (e.g., homicide, severe accidents).
You will investigate circumstances or individuals that appear unusual or suspicious to prevent crime and issue military citations for violations of laws and regulations.
You will evaluate situations to respond using the minimum degree of force necessary to neutralize an incident; warn and/or use force to restrain and apprehend violators.
You will complete patrol logs or computerized building check sheets prior to ending duty.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable/collapsible baton and obtain certifications to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer.
- Must pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass periodic retests as required.
- Employees are subjected to a pre-employment background check and ongoing background checks to affirm employability as a Police Officer.
- The incumbent must carry firearms and maintain proficiency in the use of assigned equipment. Must pass all weapons qualifications tests prior to assigned duties and responsibilities and pass all requalification.
- Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation.
- May be required to respond to off base circumstances as directed by the installation commander, in accordance with USMC and DoD policy.
Qualifications
GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-03) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Six months of general experience must include experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws; AND you must possess six months of specialized experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

Education
You may also qualify based on education OR combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above:
Successfully completed two years of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 12 semester hours in police administration, police law and evidence, police investigation, criminology, law enforcement, general law, or similar subjects closely related to police work.
