Position is located at the Charles George VAMC and is assigned to the Office of the Chief of Staff. Assists the Chief of Staff of a 127-bed Acute Care hospital facility, a separate 120-bed Extended Care and Rehabilitation Center, three Community Based Outpatient Clinics, a Home-Based Primary Care Program and a Substance Abuse Treatment Program located in Asheville, NC.
Duties
Major duties:
Performs office administrative functions to include managing calendars, telephone calls, coorespondence, managing patient concerns in collaboration with the Patient Advocates Office, and serving as the point of contact for the Chief of Staff's Office within the Executive Office.
Assists Executive Office staff in managing taskings, signature items, and coordinating requests and approvals within the Executive Office.
Coordinates administrative functions related to strategic planning, program management, contracting, budget, staffing, VISN and national suspense's, Medical Center Policies (MCP)'s, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)'s, work force, materials management, facilities and services needed to support.
Resolving administrative issues that arise and recommending solutions to the COS HSS.
Leads and co-Leads planning and completion of projects for submission at VISN, National and Congressional levels, to include clinic activations and projects related to SAIL initiatives.
Participate in Medical Staff meetings and various Committee Meetings with the primary purpose of tracking action items and presenting action plans.
Provides administrative support to various committees to include the Medical Executive Council and Disruptive Behavior Committee. Completes minutes and coorespondence as required by the committees.
Research, evaluate and recommend solutions related to functionalities and capabilities of Clinical Service Lines such as, but not limited to Mental Health Service, Primary Care Service, Specialty Care Service, Surgery Service, Community Care Service???????, Referral Coordination Service, Emergency Medicine Service and Social Work Service. Programs include, but are not limited to Urgent Care, Caregiver Support Program (CSP), Housing and Urban Development-Department of Veteran Affairs Supported Housing Program (HUD-VASH), Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP), ,Resident Housing Contract, Rural Health Residency Program, Locum Tenens (Contract), Primary Care Mental Health Intensive (PCMHI TEAM) Program, Group Practice Management, Credentialing, Compensation and Pension, and Health Informatics..
Identify and make detailed recommendations to the COS HSS for specific requirements i.e. budgetary work force, materials, facilities, and services needed to support the health care delivery systems of the medical center.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/28/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Specialized experience includes planning and carrying out projects directly related to both current guidelines and standards. Identifies, analyzes, and makes recommendations to leadership to ensure that the ongoing data that is collected. Develop detailed procedures and processes to establish an ongoing data driven monitoring system. Ensures that the clerical and routine administrative responsibilities are accomplished effectively and efficiently, which directly influences the effectiveness, accuracy, and reliability of the administrative work of all the organizations. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, in a field related to Criminal Investigation that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position (such as law enforcement or criminal justice). Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. The work requires walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as books, papers, and files. The incumbent works in an office where there are normal, everyday risks. Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office.
