About the Position: This position is located at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is an open continuous announcement. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Manage a dent alveolar surgery practice, which would include: exodontias, biopsy of intraoral lesions and pre-prosthetic surgery. Manage oral surgery complications to include treatment of dental infections, treatment of cellulitis secondary to varying dental etiologies, and evaluation, treatment, and/or referral of oral and maxillofacial trauma cases. Perform endodontic procedures to include, but not limited to: diagnosis of difficult endodontic cases, evaluation and retreatment of selected endodontic cases, and management of endodontic complications. Perform a full spectrum of complex restorative procedures to include: operative dentistry plus fixed and removable prosthodontic care inclusive of fabrication of complete and partial dentures, crowns, and bridges. Conduct extensive prophylaxis treatment, deep scaling and root planning. Prescribe drugs as required. Responsible for the timely submission and accuracy of performance data, dental records, consultation requests and other dental records in approved information management system.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• This position may require the incumbent to work weekends, nights and/or holidays.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds is required.

Basic Requirement for Dentist (Comprehensive): Education: Applicants must possess a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Residency (AEGD): Applicants must have successfully completed an advanced specialty postgraduate residency program approved by the American Dental Association (ADA), or accepted equivalent program, in Comprehensive Dentistry. Experience and/or Education Required: A. Applicants must have completed a 3-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science. OR B. Applicants must have three years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-12). OR C. Applicants must have completed a residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science AND professional dentistry experience and/or training equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-12). When combining residency program and professional dentistry experience and/or training to qualify, the total must be equal to or greater than three years. Note for Qualifying Experience: Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position. For specialty dentistry positions, experience, education, board certification, and/or training must clearly establish the applicant's status as a specialist in Comprehensive Dentistry. Medical Requirement: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.
