The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Technical Training Instructor performing all technical training instructor classroom-related activities and to support avionic course curriculum development, modification, and/or revision efforts.
Duties
Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced technical levels of avionic courses.
Monitors, evaluates, and documents student progress and performance.
Researches, develops, revises and recommends updates to avionic course materials in accordance with established learning objectives.
Maintains professional and technical proficiency.
Accomplishes special projects.

- This is a faculty member position of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), under accreditation, by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC)
- Minimum degree requirement of an Associate's Degree from CCAF or a recognized accredited college or university and experience that has demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area to be taught (cont)

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712, series Plus IOR.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. accreditation criteria.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include: Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest. Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance with a specialty in Avionics Maintenance at a practical level to include procedures, aircraft system theory, common test equipment, common tool usage, Air Force Technical Orders (AFTOs), automated maintenance management systems, safety, security, and management and maintenance directives. Knowledge of measurement principles, techniques, and instructional design utilizing computer applications.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D., if related with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest.
2. Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance with a specialty in Avionics Maintenance at a practical level to include procedures, aircraft system theory, common test equipment, common tool usage, Air Force Technical Orders (AFTOs), automated maintenance management systems, safety, security, and management and maintenance directives.
3. Knowledge of measurement principles, techniques, and instructional design utilizing computer applications.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
