This position is part of the Office of International Affairs, Department of Energy. As an International Economist, you will serve as a Department of Energy representative in supporting energy-related, policies, and engagements in overseeing and ensuring project completion to collect economic data related to international energy issues between and among nations of the Americas.

Duties

As an International Economist, you will:

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain a "Q" security clearance. Failure to obtain and maintain the required security clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter.
  • Required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
  • This position is included in a Bargaining Agreement.
  • This position may be approved to work remotely full-time, but the employee will be expected to reside within 50 miles of the Washington D.C. worksite. If selected, you may be required to sign a remote work agreement prior to onboarding.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You must submit your transcripts. In addition to meeting the education requirement above, candidates must possess the specialized experience below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Utilizing principles and facts related to international energy markets, policies, and technologies; Preparing data and analysis reports to identify and resolve economic problems; Advising domestic and international officials in the Americas on policy evaluation and effectiveness involving energy goals. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
