Duties
If selected, you will perform a range of public affairs and community outreach duties that involve the United States Attorney's Office (USAO). You will receive formal and/or on-the job training as needed.
Duties include:
Working with Assistant United States Attorneys to draft and/or review press releases regarding cases, matters and other initiatives of the USAO in order to inform and educate the public about the work of the USAO.
Creating and executing campaigns to enhance understanding of the United States Attorney's Office's initiatives.
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with print and broadcast media representatives.
Preparing magazine and newspaper articles, brochures, news releases, booklets etc., for publication and dissemination.
Arranging and coordinating for press conferences.
Conducting special events, workshops, meetings and seminars.
Creating and facilitating presentations to a variety of audiences.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
GS-12
To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.
Specialized Experience is defined as experience planning, organizing, and executing complex, controversial and diverse communication strategies to carry out public affairs activities and to promote programs and/or services of an organization; writing, editing, and preparing communications materials (i.e., news releases, fact sheets, brochures, blogs, web pages, etc.); managing, editing and recommending approval of daily content and interactions on social media platforms (i.e., Twitter); interacting with the public and the news media on behalf of an organization; and conducting special events, workshops, seminars and other meetings as part of comprehensive public affairs campaigns.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
