You will serve as the Lead Data Analyst, working under the leadership of the NAVAIR HQ Affiliate Data Officer of NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND.

Duties

You will analyze and interpret data to identify trends, patterns and insights to inform key decisions You will lead a team of data analysts to develop advanced analytic solutions, implement predictive models and promote data science best practices with maximum contribution to commander's intent and command-level impact and visibility. You will support the ADO (Affiliate Data Officer) in establishing and supporting a data governance framework that improves accuracy and completeness of DoN data. You will assist in the understanding, designing and maintaining of the organizations data architecture, ensuring data is accurate, reliable and easily accessible You will identify and solidify areas of authority and jurisdiction while strengthening the partnership/collaboration approach to data accessibility, management, and analytics.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12/13 grade level or pay band NH-03 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. NH-1515:
Basic Requirements:

Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

NH-1550:
Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Evaluation of Education:

Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
