You will serve as a Principle Data Scientist (PDS) in the under the leadership of the NAVAIR HQ Affiliate Data Officer of NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND.

Duties

You will identify and solidify areas of authority and jurisdiction while strengthening the partnership/collaboration approach to data accessibility, management, and analytics. You will conceptualize and manage execution of data science projects with maximum contribution to commander's intent and command-level impact and visibility. You will influence adoption of ECH II, III, IV policies and practices aligned with DOD / DON strategy and guidance.  You will lead an active community of practices that bridges previously siloed practices, cultivates a digital-ready workforce, and trains in-house data science talent.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12/13 grade level or pay band NH-03 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must have the following: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of specialized experience: Developing and implementing data governance policies, standards and procedures to ensure data quality, privacy and security; Driving innovation through data; Analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns and insights to inform key decisions; Leading a team of data analysts to develop advanced analytic solutions, implement predictive models and promote data science best practices with maximum contribution to commander's intent and command-level impact and visibility.
