You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the Commander Navy Installations Operations Department of NAVSUPPACT PANAMA CITY SEC DET.
Duties
You will respond to breaches in physical security controls (e.g., locks, fences, gates, barriers, or trespassing) to support security efforts.
You will maintain weapons qualifications (e.g., meet qualification for pistols, rifles, or shotguns) to be able to safely carry and use weapons for security.
You will enforce relevant security laws, regulations, policies, standards or procedures in carrying out security or guard duties.
You will enforce instructions and follow Random Antiterrorism Counter Measure (RAM) procedures in the areas of personnel, badge, package, and vehicle inspections to meet operational requirements.
You will protect U.S. Navy property and critical warfighting assets (such as ships, submarines, and aircraft) from hazards including acts of terrorism, sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft fire and accidental or willful damage and destruction.
You will perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Must obtain and maintain current certification for CPR and First Aid.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
Qualifications

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access;
2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials;
3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and
4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.
