Duties
If you’re ready to serve, we have an exciting opportunity for you to leverage your experience as an engineer, in the leadership role of Supervisory General Engineer (Building Official). As the Building Official you will lead the planning and organizing of the Building Official Program and the resources assigned to the division. This includes the development of AOC policies and procedures, which ensure code compliance for all engineering and architectural disciplines. This role will also provide a unique opportunity to represent the Agency in matters related to code compliance and reporting, with key Federal, state and industry authorities.

Qualifications
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Candidates for the GS-15 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as having experience in at least 4 out of 5 of the following areas: Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Provides supervision, leadership and guidance to technical and trade staff; (2) Issues, denies and oversees building permits; (3) Conducts agency-wide building code compliance inspections; (4) Plans and develops practices pertaining to ensuring code compliance for all engineering and architectural disciplines; (5) Analyzes proposals for new or revised building code regulations and determines their impact on agency operations and resources.
Education
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in professional engineering from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum OR a bachelor's degree in a related field, such as architecture, physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, provided the applicant has at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision or guidance.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, such as architecture, physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, provided the applicant has at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision or guidance.
