This position is located in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in the Facility Management Division.
Duties
Serves as Park Landscape Architect and is park liaison with park partners such as Federal Highway Administration and Denver Service Center.
Serves as a project manager for various types of facility projects, including roads, bridges, buildings, campgrounds, and landscapes.
Provides professional landscape architectural advice and guidance on planning, designing, constructing new or existing facilities.
Provide creative solutions to balance cultural and natural resource compliance, visitor use, and politically sensitive issues.
Prepares planning, design, cost estimates, and construction documents for projects.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
Basic Educational Requirements for a GS 0807 Landscape Architect:
Possess a bachelors or higher degree in landscape architecture or landscape design. NOTE: Successful completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 hours to a bachelor's degree architecture in an accredited college or university. You must submit copies of your college transcripts for this position.
OR
I have a combination of education and experience. For each year short of graduation, I have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design. You must submit copies of your college transcripts for this position.

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess at least the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: I have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service that equips you with the particular specialized experience needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to reviewing, planning, and developing designs for construction, repair, or maintenance projects; preparing contract design and construction packages; development, execution, and project management of multiple projects; knowledge of project management principles and concepts; applying the technical principles, practices, procedures of project development; managing contractors or similar. You must include hours per week worked.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
