This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as a Readiness Analyst in the Readiness Division and a key member of a team of functional experts that analyze the readiness of the U.S. Armed Forces. The incumbent also determines the most critical warfighting deficiencies.

Duties

As a Readiness Analyst at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Oversees the Chairman's Readiness System, centered on the formulation of the Joint Force Readiness Review (JFRR), which includes analysis of readiness inputs from C/S/A organizational headquarters. Serves as a department subject matter expert (SME) for the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS). Establish/maintain DRRS reporting policy, develop DRRS reporting requirements, and maintain CJCS Instructions and manuals. Represents J-35 Readiness Division at regular Global Force Management Board (GFMB) and Joint Strategic Planning (JSPS) meetings and conferences. Analyzes and assesses annually the results from the J-8-led Capability Gap Assessment; provides J-3 coordination for the Chairman's Risk Assessment, Annual Joint assessment, Annual Report on Combatant Commander Requirements (ARCCR) and the Chairman's Program Recommendation. Participates in Government Accounting Office (GAO) readiness engagements & survey as the Joint Staff Collateral Action Office (CAO).

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Performing analysis of joint force readiness structures and related service missions; Incorporating joint force analysis results into readiness products; Working with multiple agencies and senior level personnel to develop readiness policy. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
