This position is located at the Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) in White City, OR and all associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC's - currently there are 2), in the Electrical/Electronics shop of the Maintenance and Repair section, Facilities Management Service (FMS). The incumbent is responsible for on-site technical support, day to day coordination, and administration of the most critical, highly complex equipment at SORCC.

Duties

Incumbent is solely responsible for installation, trouble shooting, programming, adjustment, test, repair and preventive maintenance of all portions of complete operational electronic systems and equipment down to board level primarily fire alarm systems, intrusion detection systems, access control systems, central radio system, nurse call system, alarm systems, color television sets, hospital beds, closed circuit cameras, automatic doors, intercom systems, public address systems, photo cells, amplifiers, relay control circuits, client Wi-Fi, motors, solenoid operated air, water, and steam valves, distillation processes, computer peripherals, electromechanical systems, electrical and electronic circuitry and various other related equipment. Work involves converting theoretical ideas of engineers into practical units or electronic devices in support of a complex electrical or electronic system involving such functions as microwave communication, radio systems, or digital automated controls; analyzing, redesigning, modifying, installing, evaluating, repairing, and performing in service training on a wide variety of complex equipment systems within the medical center. Incumbent will analyze all reported malfunctions and problems, and must determine the scope, extent and severity after verification. Incumbent will research, design, modify, and install systems and equipment assigned. Incumbent will follow well-researched and planned procedures to identify and isolate failures of systems. Incumbent will investigate causes for the failure by industry standard and modified techniques. Work affects the design or operation of the electronic or electrical systems and equipment. Work consists of many different and unrelated processes and methods used to resolve a broad range of problems. It includes research and development work to modify or improve assigned electronic systems or procedures. Such work may involve communications and/or patient care systems. Incumbent is required to communicate with Individuals or groups from outside the agency, including consultants, contractors, vendors, or representatives of professional associations, in moderately unstructured settings. The purpose and extent of each is different. This level may also include contacts with agency officials who are several managerial levels removed from the employee when such contacts occur on an ad hoc basis. The employee must recognize or learn the role and authority of each party during the course of the meetings to plan, coordinate, or advise on work efforts or to resolve operating problems by influencing or motivating individuals or groups who are working toward mutual goals and who have basically cooperative attitudes. Work assignments usually involve isolating the problem of deficient indication, determining sequence and procedures to perform maintenance and repair (M&R) activities on this most complex equipment. Incumbent must develop and implement various techniques as system requirements are complicated by the fact that multiple functions are involved; data translation functions are in many categories of source data (pneumatic, electronic, electric, electromechanical) into measurable facts for display, various critical tolerances, etc. Typical equipment components encountered are printed circuits, integrated circuits, encoders, relays, syncro-amplifiers, electronics temperature and humidity recorders, etc. The incumbent must independently determine the nature of the trouble and extent of repairs on the system to board level. Incumbent must be able to locate trouble and assess repair work and its impact in terms of outage time and extent of disruption. Incumbent must trouble shoot and restore system operation by replacement of system circuit boards and parts. Incumbent must initiate all orders for all parts or replacement boards and keep inventories up to demand levels. Proficient in the planning, co-ordination, technical layout, installation and follow up of all electronic systems and provide a working knowledge of the NEC, NFPA and OSHA requirements during re-design and new construction at the SORCC. The incumbent will be called upon to complete other electrical type work as required to assist with various electrical activities that may not be described above. This work will be traditional electrician work that requires journeymen electrical experience and abilities. The ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision in performing the full range of electrical/electronics duties? Related experience includes working knowledge of the construction, installation, operation, and troubleshooting of a variety of sophisticated electronic systems, circuits, equipment and controls for example: nurse call systems, hospital beds, radio frequency (RF) antennae systems, microwave systems, access control systems, alarm systems, IP based and analog camera systems, fire alarm and suppression systems, auto door operators, unique medical center emergency systems, communication wiring within buildings, public address systems, and how these systems interface with other medical center electronic, communication, and network systems. The incumbent selects circuit configuration and determines equipment placement, cable routing, and integration of various equipment or systems; maintains on-line operational reliability of a variety of complex electronic equipment and systems used in radio, telephone, carrier, microwave, satellite, graphics, public address, and data processing; tests, aligns, and repairs a wide variety of specialized test equipment; fabricates and constructs new test equipment; performs preventative and nonscheduled corrective maintenance by diagnosing malfunctions and operating difficulties; develops methods and procedures for maintenance and testing of systems and subsystem components; and maintains modification records for associated systems and equipment. Must have the skill and ability to plan, layout, install, modify and repair various systems, subsystems, circuits, equipment and controls such as the routing, placement, balance, load, continuity and proper safe operation of circuits and controls to machinery and specialized control equipment. Physical Requirements: Physical demands are exhaustive and require considerable lifting of heavy objects up to 65 pounds.
