Duties
Performs the full range of WG-5378-10 duties and responsibilities. Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journey level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing, and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program. Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance. Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision. Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. May provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position descriptions changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Alaska Air National Guard membership is required.

- APPOINTMENT FACTORS: Excepted/Enlisted in the Alaska Air National Guard.
- MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT: Due to the nature of this position, the military grade requirement is Master Sergeant (MSgt/E7) or Technical Sergeant (TSgt/E6P) promotable to E7.
- Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state drivers license.
- This position requires military membership and the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance level which is based on the position security access requirement.
- AFSC REQUIREMENT: Due to the nature of this position, you must currently hold the AFSC of 2A672.
- DESIRABLES: AGE Red X; experience leading a small shop.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE is experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.
WG-11- Must have at least 18 months of experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Resume must have complete dates and hours worked per week for each occurrence of both civilian and military employment (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only will result in disqualification.
