This position is located at the Cheyenne River Service Unit in the Division of Nursing at Eagle Butte, SD. The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialized nursing care to patients, guide and coordinate the work of professional and non-professional staff, serve as a role model and nurse clinical coach, and plan, organize and implements programs and processes that improve the quality of the patient's care for multiple areas during non-administrative hours.
Duties
Serves as the Tour Coordinator at Cheyenne River Health Center for all hours & departments including evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.
As House Supervisor, must set overall objectives expectations during non-administrative hours based upon seriously ill or injured patients and ability to interpret plan of care to patient and family members, as well as mentor and coach experienced professional nursing staff.
Coordinates patient care and support activities to endure smooth hospital operation for admissions, discharges, and transfers (intra-and inter-facility); and call back for support departments, i.e. laboratory, x-ray, MVO transport drivers and Medical staff.
Perform specialized, professional nursing duties in the case of critically ill, severely injured and/or traumatized emergency patients, assess and triage.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
AND
License: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they most possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States (Applicants must list their license number on their resume, along with the expiration date, OR submit a copy of their Nursing license that includes the expiration date. Acceptable verification of licensure includes a print out from a State Board of Nursing website [or other applicable license verification website that reflects your licensure status]).
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Coordinates patient care and support activities to ensure smooth hospital operation for admissions, discharges, and transfers; Prepare reports and maintains records of work and administrative information as required; Closely observes patients for conditions that may require emergency measures and assists with patient care in these emergency situations; Participates and follows advance cardiac, trams, pediatric, and neonatal advanced life support protocols; assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and capabilities of employees; evaluates work performance of subordinates.
OR
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as required for this position.
Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only)
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
