About the Position: This position serves as the administrative assistant to the Lockmaster concerning substantive administrative programs to include budget, office automation, purchasing, property control, personnel actions, data process, reporting, Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFEMS) data input, computerized maintenance management systems, and other office operations.
Duties
Serves as the primary project field office employee responsible for assisting the Lockmaster and staff on the practical and technical aspects of office administration.
Conducts the annual training needs survey at the project in support of personnel training needs.
Prepares purchase requests for requirements valued in excess of the local purchase limitation.
Prepares annual purchase requests for field maintenance contractual services (such as electric, telephone service, garbage pickup, water, mowing, and maintenance and janitorial).
Supports the organization by performing basic clerical and administrative functions.
Serves as the administrative assistance to the Lockmaster concerning admin programs to include purchasing, supply management, personnel matters, the business portion of contract and admin, records management, office automation, etc.
Serves as a liaison with the District Office for administrative matters pertaining to CEFMS, human resources, contracting, etc.

- This position may require you to obtain and maintain any Corps of Engineers licenses/certifications associated with the position: CPR, First Aid, etc.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or education requirements described below. GS-5: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing basic procurement and budget-related activities; reviewing incoming mail and determining what should be forwarded to supervisor or whether you can personally prepare a reply; preparing a variety of correspondence, forms, and memos ensuring correct grammar, format, and spelling is used. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-6: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes checking email and maintaining an office calendar for visitors, events, and meetings; compiling and maintaining information and statistical data to prepare various recurring and non-recurring reports on operational and administrative matters; maintaining training records; providing navigational support such as: recording water levels, relaying weather reports, and announcing boat traffic on a handheld radio; and providing timekeeping activities such annual leave, sick leave, and overtime balances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-7: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with property accountability activities for inventory of expendable and non-expendable property; projecting and estimating fiscal year allocations of contractual and non-contractual commits and obligations; coordinating travel arrangements with appropriate elements; respond to employee inquiries about benefits, pay, or leave; prepare requests for personnel actions in automated systems; and monitoring and maintaining ongoing overview of the office's financial situation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-6 and GS-7 grade levels, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
