You will serve as a Wood Worker in the Material Management Department of Naval Sea Logistics Center (NSLC) (NAVSEALOGCENKYPTDIVNUWC MECH PA) located in Crane IN.

Duties

You will plan, construct and repair a variety of supply, shipping, and storage containers and similar items. You will determine applicability of Special Packaging Instruction (SPI), contractor drawing, or blue-prints based on work order specifications. You will modify or make changes to plan to accommodate type, size, shape, and measurements of material being packed/crated. You will select the proper type and grade of wood or wood substitute to utilize. You will select and utilize a variety of power tools to make standard joints and grooves. You will cut crate components to the dimension and shapes specified. You will assemble wood framing, install shock mounts, and cradle or cushion fragile items such as electronic assemblies, radar housing, gyroscopes, etc. You will assemble containers with corners and seals as specified. You will operate material handling equipment such as fork lift, warehouse tractor, pick-up truck and/or other general purpose vehicle. You will ensure items are free of damage.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current fork lift/MHE license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
