Duties
Typical work assignments include:
Develops intelligence and risk assessments of critical infrastructure information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) systems to identify threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences.
Provides analysis on information security issues through high-quality, polished written assessments, briefings, and engagements to understand cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, consequences to cyber infrastructure.
Tracks, analyzes, reports on, and helps de-conflict critical data and information related to regional cybersecurity service delivery.
Supports regional incident support operations during critical cyber-related events.
Supports assessments of systems and networks and identifies where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-09/11/12/13 grade level if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating the following:
Analyzing cybersecurity data/information from one or multiple sources to respond to requests for information, maintaining awareness of cybersecurity intelligence, threats, and operations; and supporting cybersecurity incident response.
In addition to the above requirement, you must have:
You qualify for the GS-09 grade level, if you have:
A. EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or equivalent) performing the following duties:
Recognizing and analyzing emerging cybersecurity issues, risks, and vulnerabilities.
OR
B. Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or have successfully completed at least two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading toward such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
C. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage by dividing your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then determine your education as a percentage by dividing the total number of completed graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate education minus 36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours) by 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify at this grade level.
You qualify for the GS-11 grade level, if you have:
A. EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 if outside the Federal service performing the following duties:
Recognizing and analyzing emerging cybersecurity issues, risks, and vulnerabilities; and interpreting cybersecurity and infrastructure security concepts and principles.
OR
B. Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

C. You qualify for the GS-13 grade level, if you have:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Defining and managing information technology related programs and projects; recognizing and analyzing emerging cybersecurity issues, risks, and vulnerabilities; interpreting cybersecurity and infrastructure security concepts and principles; and supporting and reporting on cybersecurity incident response.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the specialized experience requirements at the GS-12 and GS-13 grade levels.

You must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private U.S. organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
