This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Direct Hire Authority - DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional measurements.

Duties

Prepares calibration reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections factors, and measurement uncertainty for instruments being calibrated. Assists and advises users in the application of, and calibration requirements for TMDE in support of their mission. Implements, adapts, modifies and occasionally develops technical procedures required by changing user or equipment requirements. Identifies and documents errors in existing procedures and provides information used for the development of technical documents used for TMDE calibration and certification. Serves, as the workload dictates, as a specialist in physical/dimensional and ionizing radiation calibration. Performs other duties as assign.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator ~ without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to apply precise measurement methods and techniques of electrical and electronic quantities and relationships such as electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional measurements applicable to the secondary transfer level calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
