Duties

Install, repair, overhaul, and perform service and maintenance on a variety of commercial and industrial heating and air conditioning systems. Apply an understanding of electrical control theory as it relates to HVAC systems. Operate Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS), laptop computers, interface devices and handheld microprocessors to monitor program trend data and analyze problems. Read blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, manufacturer's and engineering design's specifications, and program architecture. Work with Direct Digital Controls (DDC), Variable Air Volume (VAV), and many operating systems in order to perform service and maintenance to the equipment.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties (occasionally lifts and carries items weighing more).
• The incumbent is subject to emergency call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and may be required to report to work during off-duty hours, to include weekends and holidays.
• The maximum entry age for positions covered under the special Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) retirement is 37 years old.
• Individuals must be appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, may be reinstated.
• This position is designated as a Primary LEO and the work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
• Regularly-assigned contacts with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population.
• This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
• This position requires the employee to undergo screening for tuberculosis upon appointment and an annual re-evaluation.
• Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.7 states all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity and emotional stability.
• All confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
• Section 639 of Public Law 106-554 requires agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
• IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
• The incumbent of this position will comply with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct.
• This position requires the employee to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
• All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually in inmate supervision and security as well as training in their field.
• The incumbent is required to possess and maintain an EPA certification for the handling and control of refrigerants and other Ozone Depleting Substances (OZDs). YOU MUST ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR CERTIFICATION TO THE APPLICATION PACKAGE
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Interpret electronic, electrical, and mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete control systems. Independently perform specific procedures and techniques to repair and replace a variety of system parts and components to include circuit cards/boards, transmitters, receivers, hard wiring, controls and connectors. Operate laptop computers, interface devices, and handheld microprocessors, needed to monitor programs trend data, modify, schedule, reset, and analyze problems for variable frequency drive motors and air quality sensors.
