Duties
Plans, formulates and develops financial policies and procedures to enhance the validity, accuracy and integrity of finance processes.
Manages major programs/projects on a broad scale as well as guides, counsels and directs functional and technical aspects of these programs/projects at a detailed level when required.
Conducts independent studies of complex and diversified information, and financial systems or system components.
Establishes continuous interactive communication and liaison with all communities generating financial data, supporting finance operations, and/or receiving DFAS products and services.
Reviews, analyzes and evaluates the status of performance measurement and financial management indicators for assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
Provides both technical and administrative oversight to GS employees.

- Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

- Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience Defined As: Conducting reviews and evaluations of administrative, financial management, and accounting activities and programs to improve performance and efficiencies of overall operations; and applying financial management principles as they relate to finance operations.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.
