You will serve as a Aircraft Weight and Balance Operator (Aircraft) in the Director of Industrial Operations, Industrial Execution Department, Production Trades Division, Aircraft Mechanics Branch of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will interpret work instructions for explanation to other workers in completion of line handling assignments. You will set up tools and equipment needed for line handling operations. You will use basic arithmetic and mathematical formulas for determining the center of gravity to move and pick up heavy equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You must have been formally trained in Aircraft Weight and Balance and completed the formal NAVAIR course ending in certification, or completed an equivalent and was certified by either a sister service or agency.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. : 1) Utilize the Weight and Balance Handbook to maintain weight and balance control of the aircraft; 2) Maintains inventory records and ensures that departing aircraft are properly equipped; 3) Assist aircraft mechanic in the preparation of aircraft to be weighed. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
