This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0876000 and is part of the FL AASF 1, National Guard.

Duties

As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-2604-8/10, you will troubleshoot, inspect, install, maintain, overhaul, repair, and modify complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components including navigational radios, Doppler or inertial navigation systems, global positioning systems, automatic planning systems, night vision systems, targeting systems, communications radios, flight control and stabilization systems, weapons systems, aircraft survivability equipment, specialized mission equipment and similar electronic and navigational equipment; complete operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of line replaceable unit (LRU); isolate unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment; solve problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems; complete bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units; use a variety of test equipment such as automated test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, multimeters, powermeters, combined Boresight Harmonization Kits, and special purpose bench test sets; test and troubleshoot solid state electronic assemblies and subassemblies such as circuit cards, modules, rate gyros, electronic control amplifiers, electro-mechanical assemblies, random access memories, programmable read-only memories and various integrated circuits; identify faulty part and repairs to level authorized; reassemble unit after repair, performs alignment and makes shop checks. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment, also working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavier items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas or on the aircraft in restricted places, where conditions of heat or cold may occur. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather. Subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or radio frequency energy, or by soldering irons. Works in high noise environment.

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
  • Enrollment in Direct Deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted; E6 & below GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have you have experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-08 must have at least 12 months experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment; experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems; experience in using hand tools, power tools and gauges to make intricate repairs; experience in using diagnostic and testing equipment; experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 musthave at least 18 months aviation electronics experience which demonstrates the ability to repair, inspect, modify, install and restore to serviceable condition a variety of avionics/electronics equipment including but not limited to AM/FM/VHF/UHF radio sets, COMSEC equipment, IFF and radar equipment, ADF and VOR navigation radios, computerized doppler and inertia navigation systems (HARS), symbol generators, video recorder systems, and electronic countermeasure equipment to include radar warning systems, infrared and radar jammer systems; troubleshoot wiring harness in aircraft and repair by replacing wire, junction boxes, etc, install equipment in aircraft and complete operational tests; experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment; experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc; experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. MULTIPLE LEVEL RECRUITMENT: This position is being advertised using multiple level recruitment to allow for consideration of applicants with the basic skills necessary to develop to the full journeyman level of the position. If a less than fully qualified applicant is selected, incumbent may be trained and developed until proficiency is gained to full journeyman level. If less than fully qualified individual is selected for this position, the position has potential to Grade WG-10.
