This position is located in the Shiprock Service Unit, Dzilth-Na-O-Dith Health Center (DZHC), Bloomfield, NM. The purpose of this position is to administer, manage, and coordinate program planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-based public health, education and promotion services for the Dizilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Health Center. Incumbent reports to Health System Administrator.

Duties

Develops and interprets philosophy, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, Provide full technical and administrative supervision for the Public Health Nursing Program. Reviews and evaluates services to patients, families, and identified groups and proposes and/or implements changes and improvements. Facilitates coordination of service and continuity of care for patient health teams. Coordinates with health centers, community health tribal organizations, and county state agencies in planning health programs. Serves on committees as requested and facilitates group process to develop resources to address unmet needs. Participates in clinical conferences, workshops, in-service education and staff meetings. Determines staff and other resources necessary to provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive, age specific care in prevention of illness and the promotion and maintenance of health status for patients, families, and identified groups through a multidisciplinary health care center and community. Provides direct community health nursing services to patients in homes and schools. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: planning and evaluating work, setting priorities, determining resources needed, determining goals and strategies; managing and organizing information; making decisions and leading programs or projects; delivering public health and nursing services to individuals, families, schools, and community; determining patient and family needs; developing health care plans; providing nursing services and treatments; assigning work to subordinates, and ensuring program meets all accreditation requirements. Basic Requirements for the GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed above, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision: Accountability, Customer Services, Decisiveness, Flexibility, Integrity/Honesty, Interpersonal Skills, Oral Communication, Problem Solving, Resilience, and Written Communication. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
