About the position: This position will be assigned to the Fort Dix Fitness Center.
Duties
Within overall plans developed at higher levels, and by the supervisor, selects and emphasizes assigned sports program activities to be offered, both the required basic program categories, and those additional ones possible through available resources and desirable in terms of participant interests and needs, i.e. sports events etc. Implements program plans developed by supervisor and acts as the point of contact (POC) for all unit/squadron representatives, intramural and varsity coaches. Coordinates and plans the details of both special and recurring sports activities ensuring maximum use of facilities, services, and other resources. Schedules and publicizes various sports activities in the interest of the most effective attraction and motivation of participants. Selects and emphasizes competitive sports activities to be offered with an average of 20 teams per program. Assists in conducting clinics and seminars to train coaches, officials and/or participants. Schedules and publicizes tournaments, and other sports events. Solicits volunteers and paid services for activities and evaluates the effectiveness of sports activities and program objectives. Plan and maintain budget for equipment through the fiscal year as it relates to sports equipment, field equipment, officials and scorekeepers payroll. Recruit, train and schedule volunteer officials, score keepers for each assigned sport when needed, operate and update al league scores, standings and schedule changes. Train and supervise staff on proper use of equipment to maintain fields and gymnasiums and arbitrate on and off the field objections and protests. Responsible for year round field and building maintenance at various sports facilities and arrange for necessary supplies, transportation, space and services to accomplish scheduled sports activities. Assists the fitness department in shift coverage when needed, programs and promotions that include set up, implementation and breakdown including but not limited to 5K runs, obstacle courses, mud runs, cross country runs, fun runs, and other activities that promote healthy living/fitness and sports recreation. May supervise, lead, oversee and/or coordinate the daily activities of other employees engaged in the performance of their duties and other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Demonstrates experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. This experience may have been gained managing or administering a sports program in a community, industrial activity, or secondary school or college; planning, teaching or evaluating a physical education curriculum for secondary or higher academic levels; or managing, umpiring, or officiating at amateur or professional athletic events, competitions, or games. May require the operation of a personal or government vehicle. A valid driver's license is required. Subject to work an uncommon tour of duty to meet program requirements including nights, weekends, and holidays. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level. An undergraduate degree in physical education may be fully qualifying for this position.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
