Duties
The Office of Audits (JA) has a goal of improving GSA, while simultaneously protecting the integrity of its operations. This office accomplishes its mission by identifying and reporting on the challenges facing GSA management. JA conducts programmatic performance audits of GSA's operations and activities, implementation reviews, and/or contract audits. The Office of Audits also oversees financial statement audits and compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).

Qualifications
The GS-12 salary range starts at $89,848 per year. The GS-11 salary range starts at $74,961 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. Basic Requirements for Auditors: You must have either A or B, or C:
A. Degree in accounting or auditing B. Degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law C. A combination of college level education and experience.
Refer to OPM’s Qualification Standard for Financial Auditors and Attestation Auditors for more information.Additional Requirements for Qualification at the GS-12 level:In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing work that demonstrates knowledge of the total audit evaluation process, including the planning, execution, and reporting phases. Such experience must include the application of professional methods and techniques to gather and evaluate evidence, validate findings, establish conclusions, formulate recommendations, and prepare reports.Additional Requirements for Qualification at the GS-11 level:In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is work involving the identification and review of program data and comparing it to regulations, policy, procedures or other program criteria; and experience performing reviews in accordance with auditing standards.ORA Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or have successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. To be creditable, such education must be in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related competencies necessary to perform the duties of this position.OR A combination of directly related graduate level education and appropriate specialized experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.
