You will serve as an Engineer or Scientist in the Missile Systems Integration, Engineering and Weapons Division of NAVSURFWARCENDLD leading Hypersonic Defense Lethatlity portfolios.

Duties

You will plan and coordinate individual assignments to meet project goals. You will design and lead complex weapon/target tests involving both government and contractor organizations. You will lead programmatic aspects of testing and analysis requiring interactions between multiple government and contractor organizations. You will look for opportunities to collaborate with other organizations to leverage testing and analysis to expand knowledge of hypersonic defense weapon systems and threats. You will implement analysis and problem-solving techniques necessary to perform professional scientific/engineering work related to hypersonic specialty area. You will prepare effective briefing materials to support government and industry.

FOR ND-05 (GS-14/15 equivalent): In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent), or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience as a professional engineer or scientist coordinating or conducting strategic planning, process improvement initiatives, test and evaluation, integration, or modeling and simulation in support of naval weapon systems. For the ND-0801, Professional Engineering Series.
- successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor?s degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
- combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (I) Professional registration or licensure: Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration; or (II) Written Test: Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico; or (III) Specified academic courses: Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). For the ND-1301, Professional Physical Science Series.
- bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

- combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

For the ND-1515, Professional Operations Research Series.
- bachelor's or higher degree in operations research.
OR
- completed a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.

For the ND-1520, Professional Mathematics Series.
- successfully completed a degree in mathematics or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.
OR
- combination of education and experience demonstrated by courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

For the ND-1550, Professional Computer Science Series.
- bachelor's degree in computer science.
OR
- bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of my 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
