About the Position: This position is located within the U.S. Army Pacific 25th Infantry Division Headquarters at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Duties

Serve as the Explosives Safety Specialist for the command. Assist with planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating an Explosives Safety Management Program and comprehensive Occupational Safety and Health Program for all units. Develop explosives safety policy governing occupational safety criteria, guidelines, standards affecting many varied organizations, occupational and subject matter areas. Identify hazards of activities for the purpose of developing means or methods to eliminate, correct, or control such hazards. Investigate serious accidents involving accidental death or extensive property damage involving activities of the Army.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance while occupying the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating practices and conditions to identify and resolve unsafe munitions handling, transporting, storing, testing, and disposal operations; monitoring explosives safety program to determine compliance with established policies and regulations; implementing specialized safety activities to eliminate or reduce the potential for injuries to employees and damage to buildings, aircraft, equipment, machines and other property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
