You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/NETWORK) in the COMMAND INFORMATION OFFICE of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

Duties

You will inventory existing equipment to establish a baseline. You will visit sites to install hardware/software, administer the network and support the IT/ICS systems to maintain the ICS infrastructure. You will develop and define network requirements to create a secure ICS network. You will install and configure network servers, operating systems, firewalls, IDS/IPS, routers and switches to support the ICS enclave. You will develop plans to replace/upgrade ICS equipment.

• This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field E - Engineering and Techincal management (ETM) 2. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
• A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
• This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) policies to ensure IM/IT systems' operations; 2) Performing software upgrades (e.g. security updates, virus updates, vendor software fixes-patches) to ensure Information Systems operations; 3) Performing Information System backup procedures to recover from loss/destruction of data/program files/physical damage to the installation; 4) Managing Information Technology (IT) equipment to maintain on-hand equipment for successful mission completion; and 5) Configuring network servers, operating systems, firewalls, IDS/IPS, routers and switches, to support the mission. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
