Duties

Major Duties of the Position: DUTY 1: Teaching. Teach students in undergraduate Biology courses, including the associated duties of enforcing classroom standards, preparing course materials according to published course descriptions, and providing extra instruction outside of normal class hours for students who require it. Provide well-organized instruction to facilitate, assess, and continuously improve cadet learning. Counsel and evaluate assigned students, providing student assessment and motivation. DUTY 2: Research: Scholarly activities and professional accomplishments. Initiate and conduct a program of research in the field of specialization which contributes to the body of knowledge. Prepare manuscripts, papers, journals, reports, and/or presentations containing the findings of research or scholarly study which are suitable for publication or other distribution. Pursue professional development through membership in professional organizations. Participate in conferences, webinars, or other events as a discussant or session organizer. Engage in scholarly and professional activities to maintain academic currency in the area of specialization. DUTY 3: Service and Administration. Perform appropriate administrative functions, as required, to ensure the timely and effective offering of courses. Remain current on teaching methods to ensure the most innovative and effective approaches are being used. Incorporate teaching concepts, mentoring methods, means of enhancing the students' learning processes, and educational strategies and techniques with fellow instructors. Participate in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings and serving on departmental committees when requested. Provide advice and counsel to improve the quality of educational programs.

EDUCATION:
If selected, you will be requested to provide original copies of ALL OFFICIAL transcripts for degrees being pursued or obtained (or letter of degree completion if an OFFICIAL transcript is not available due to recent graduation) to support your educational claims as stated in your curriculum vitae. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a transcript to be considered OFFICIAL, it should be printed on university letterhead and the registrar's official seal/signature must appear on the transcript. Your transcripts must also reflect the degree awarded/conferred date. Transcripts labeled UNOFFICIAL will not be accepted.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
