These positions are located in the Northern Research Station with a duty location of Columbia MO and Rhinelander WI. The employees perform a variety of routine and recurring technical duties to support computer simulation needs of a research team. These are TERM Appointment positions.

Duties
Assists in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of technical duties, in a laboratory, field, or greenhouse environment.
Performs routine and recurring techniques and studies using a variety of specialized equipment.
Receives training and assignments to perform research experiments using a forest landscape succession and disturbance (i.e., computer simulation) model under the direction of higher graded specialists and scientists.
Maintains, calibrates and modifies equipment and automated systems used for test and evaluation procedures.
Collects, prepares, evaluates, and verifies samples and supporting records; maintains records and locates and compiles data and other information from various sources.
Assists with assembly and preparation of required spatial and nonspatial input data.
Keeps detailed records of experimental data. Tabulates, statistically analyzes and summarizes data using personal computers and software packages.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-5: You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:

OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study with a combination of 24 semester hours of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled. The successful completion of a full course of study of at least 12 months in a school for clinical laboratory technicians may be substituted for the 1 year of specialized experience required at the GS-05 level for positions involving microbiology and biochemistry technician work.
