These positions are located in Everglades National Park, in the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection.

Duties
Incumbent serves as a front-line representative of the agency and in many instances is the first and only contact the visiting public has. Incumbent is responsible for collecting appropriate fees at park entrance station, visitor center, campground, or other visitor contact station following established accountability guidelines for handling government funds.
Responsible for providing answers to recurring visitor questions concerning Everglades and the local area.
Explains the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession-operated facilities and services, and campground availability; distributes maps, brochures, and other printed materials; provides directions and routes of travel through the park; and informs visitors of potential safety hazards.
Enhances visitor understanding of resource issues and provides for quality experiences.
Supports the overall goals and mission of the National Park Service and of Everglades National Park by building and maintaining positive communication and effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, park visitors, park neighbors, other divisions, concessions, and outside agencies.
Operates an electronic cash register, performs opening and closing shift functions, issues entrance receipts, park passes, and federal recreation passes in accordance with established guidelines and verifies entrance receipts and various passes for validity dates.
Completes shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold and all machine transactions for the shift, using journal and receipt tapes and register of voided transactions.
Prepares remittance reports and bank deposits for funds collected, maintains necessary accountability records and troubleshoots accounting problems by correcting difficult errors that are unsolvable by others which may involve correction of related reports. Duties at park entrance stations are in a fast-paced environment.
AREA INFORMATION: The park Main Entrance Station is located just past the park Headquarters, which is located 12 miles southwest of Homestead on State Road 9336. The Shark Valley Entrance Station is located at 36000 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33194. This location is located 50 miles north of the Main Entrance. From Miami, Shark Valley is located on Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail / SW 8th St.) 25 miles west of the Florida Turnpike, exit 25A (from the north) and exit 25 (from the south). From the Naples area, take U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) approximately 70 miles east to Shark Valley. Summer temperatures are between 75 and 95 degrees, while winter temperatures are mild averaging between 66 and 76 degrees. Evening temperatures can dip down into the 50s or occasionally 40s with rain, however winter is the dry season.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: handling, tracking, or depositing monies; using software programs to maintain financial/accounting data (such as fee and stock data); performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties; and using tools or equipment (e.g., cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial records. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours completed and divide by 120. Multiple the resulting decimal by 100. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months; multiple the resulting decimal by 100. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
