About the Position: The position is located in the Director Primary Care/Branch Clinics NNSY Health Clinic, Occupational Medicine Naval Medicine Center Portsmouth, Virginia.

Duties
Coordinate medical surveillance programs for employees who are occupationally exposed to hazardous substances or work conditions.
Carry out difficult physical examinations screening functions for patients undergoing pre-employment physical examinations, medical
surveillance physical examinations of employees exposed to hazardous substances, (i.e.) asbestos, lead, silica, etc.
Responsible for physical examinations surveillance of policemen, crane operators, naval investigative service, divers, forklift operators, explosive
handlers, and firefighters.
Instruct patients in preparation for various tests, obtains specimens, and initiates arrangements for follow-up care as ordered by physicians.
Perform specialized health screening procedures such as electro- cardiograms, visual acuity testing, pulmonary function testing, and other
screening tests as indicated.
Verify laboratory and other information on computer to assist in determining requirements for employees' physical examinations.
Oversee shipyard respirator program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is a Department of Defense Civilian Drug Testing Designated Position (TOP) subject to applicant testing and random employee drug testing.
- In accordance with Regulations employees assigned to or subject to being assigned to duties providing direct patient care, either diagnostic or therapeutic must possess and maintain: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- A favorable Tier 3 background investigation is required for all Non-Critical Sensitive (NCS) positions with access to network systems and
Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- All health care personnel who provide direct patient care in MTFs will be immunized against the seasonal influenza infection each year unless
there is a documented medical or religious reason not to be immunized.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes to perform screening functions for patients undergoing preemployment physical examinations and/or medical surveillance physical examinations of employees exposed to hazardous substances such as asbestos, lead, silica, etc. . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6)
