You will serve as a WORK AND FAMILY LIFE CONSULTANT in the FAMILY READINESS DIVISION of NAVSTA GREAT LAKES IL.

Duties

You will create promotional materials to publicize upcoming events. You will brief management to provide status, updates, or other business information regarding social services studies or research. You will collaborate with clients in the preparation of resumes, cover letters, and job applications to verify their application packages are complete. You will advise colleagues on interpretation of policy, regulations, and standards related to family support programs. You will develop multimedia presentations and facilitate work assignments using a personal computer and software programs.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing assistance in developing goals and plans to determine appropriate referral services and options; 2) Evaluating strengths, weaknesses, and needs of a serviced population to establish program goals, objectives, and procedures; 3) Delivering Work and Family Life Programs education and training to a serviced population; and 4) Using computer software (such as Microsoft Office, Web Browsers, databases, or other programs) to support a Work and Family Life Program. Duties may require some travel to different offices, military and civilian, within the local area and local travel. Hours may vary depending on client needs and will require some evenings and weekends. Incumbent may be required to carry objects such as overhead projectors weighing twenty five pounds or less. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is normally performed in an office setting. Duties may require some travel to different offices, military and civilian, within the local area, as well as occasional travel to areas away from the FFSC. Incumbent may be required to board Navy vessels to provide FFSC programs to crewmembers while the ship is in port or underway in route to homeport from last port call. Employee must be able to traverse ladders on board Navy vessel. In cases of emergency situations involving military families, incumbent may be on a twenty-four hour, seven-day week, on-call status. Situations will be interpreted by higher authority as to determination of an emergency but, in most cases, would be natural disasters or disasters at sea to ships and/or planes.

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
