This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Manage surety and occupational health programs under the guidance of the Medical Director, Surety Medicine.
Assist in the formulation of surety and occupational health service policies, objectives and standards and modifies medical directives and nursing protocols to local situations.
Serve as a technical expert during biological Surety Management Reviews (SMRs) and DAIG Inspections.
Coordinate and conduct Quality Assurance on all PRP Biological medical records, assessing for compliance to federal regulations.
Coordinate and conduct medical surveillance based on the individual's current physical status, including both pre-employment and periodic screening.
Perform patient follow-ups of routine and special health evaluations, tracking rehabilitation and return to work of employees.
Educate and counsel employees in the proper, safe and effective use of safety and protective equipment used in the performance of their specific job.
Conduct work site evaluations and inspections as a member of multidisciplinary teams, to assist in identifying required protective measures and recommend actions to reduce hazards and improve occupational health working conditions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance eligibility.

recognized exemption.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red
Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form
5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
- This position is designated Mission Essential. Employee may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings. May be required to work overtime which includes evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical/Community-Occupational Health):
Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes providing Clinical/Community-Occupational Health nursing services, educating patients or community on health promotion topics, and coordinating patient care.
OR
Education: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
Exemption: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet one of the requirement below. Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from a professional nursing program.
OR
Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education from a professional nursing program.
