The Integrated Care Supervisory Social Worker is directly responsible for the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of treatment program operations, and provides administrative supervision of all providers in those programs. The role is highly complex, involving management, supervisory, and clinical skills, all of which require the exercise of independent judgment, close collaboration with multiple program managers, and flexibility and creativity.

Learn more Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Duties for the position may include but not limited to: Ensures efficient operation of the program, involving both day-to-day operations and long-term planning and growth. Develops and implements policies and procedures pertinent to all aspects of the program's operation and treatment services to ensure goal attainment and effective and efficient resource utilization and service delivery. Developing all documentation and reporting standards for the patient clinical records, demonstrating compliance with Joint Commission, VA Directives, and VANCHCS requirements by all staff. Responsible for organizing, directing, supervising, and administering all aspects of the Integrated Care program at VA NCHCS. The incumbent exercises broad responsibility in the allocation and distribution of resources within NCHCS to ensure compliance with OMHO directives and deliver efficient and effective services. Responsible for proper planning to assure staff, office space, funds/contracts and equipment are available to efficiently provide clinical services. The incumbent monitors expenditures, submissions and verifications of reports, develops staffing plans, and requests resources and FTEE. Provides public relations and community outreach/education regarding VA care to various social agencies, medical, mental health, legal, housing, and welfare organizations. Represents the Integrated Care Program at appropriate clinical and administrative medical center meetings, conference calls, and community events, and collaborates with these officials to form partnerships and develop alternatives and improvements to the current system of service delivery. Responsible for management and control of all data from multiple national and local information systems related to integrated care and monitors outcomes. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Establishes and monitors clinic profiles in terms of availability, utilization and scheduling, and monitors staff productivity. Provides specialized services at all levels of complexity for patients, with service delivery to include intake evaluation, diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy and patient education. Treats mental health as well as medical concerns through a variety of modalities (and especially EBPs such as Motivational Interviewing, Problem Solving Training, CBT-Insomnia. CBT for Chronic Pain). Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy and psychoeducation. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staffs of units to which assigned. Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assist in their formulation of the patient, patient concerns and appropriate treatment expectations. Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned using a data-driven quality assurance processes. If applicable, plans and oversees the completion of personal research programs, designed to provide information regarding program planning and relevant treatment approaches. Assists in preparation of RFP's and grant proposals, as assigned. Represents the Medical Center or Healthcare System at professional/program community group/events and committees as assigned Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. English Language Proficiency: Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j, this part. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: Supervisory Social Worker, GS-13 Education and Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers. Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion. Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service. Ability to provide staff training and development.
