About the Position: This is a TERM NTE 13 months as a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) located with Logistics Readiness Center, Fort Jackson, SC.
Duties
Identifies and maintains reutilization items for use across the Garrison, Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), tenant organizations, other installations or government contracts.
Receives a wide variety of serviceable and unserviceable supplies and equipment which includes classified items, abandoned property found on the installation, and routine turn-ins of excess items.
Using stock lists, technical orders, and other supply publications, checks items received against accompanying paperwork, shipping documents, invoices, contracts, and commercial catalogs for completeness and correctness of nomenclature.
Performs a variety of warehousing tasks such as receiving, storing, and inventorying of supply items and materials.
Responsible for monitoring hazardous material (HM), temporary storage, and verification of HM.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation NACI.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a 10,000 lbs. forklift certification.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Must complete a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter .

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (FLO) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (FLO). I can receive, store, and move a variety of material; use material handling equipment to receive or move material; verify prepared documents for shipping. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Incumbent is subject to prolonged standing on hard surfaces, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, positions and carries supplies and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Moderate physical effort is required to operate hand and foot controls of a 1/2 ton pickup truck and forklifts.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting loads and overturning. Hearing protection devices and/or safety equipment must be worn during all periods of time exposed to the hazardous condition(s).
