This position is located in the Security Department at the Claremore Indian Hospital (CIH), Claremore, OK. The position provides all security functions within the main hospital as well as all the exterior buildings on campus. Incumbent patrols the buildings, hospital grounds and monitors the internal and external surveillance cameras to protect patients, visitors and employees at CIH. This position reports to the Supervisory Security Guard.

Duties

Provide internal and external building security. Check for any unauthorized vehicles or suspicious persons on the premises after work hours. Enforce clinic parking rules and regulations. Fill out and turn in daily reports for normal activities, and incident reports for other activities, such as accidents, thefts, disturbances, and other abnormal occurrences.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must clearly demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-4: Six months of General Experience and six months of Specialized Experience. General Experience: Experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquires, or obtain information. Specialized Experience: Experience such as work with a federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protection of life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying. OR Two (2) years of education above high school. Education: Successfully completed two (2) years of education above the high school level in an accredited college or university in any subject is fully qualifying. Transcripts must be provided if substituting education for experience and/or if education is required for this position. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable but official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty. Training: Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local, laws, or investigative techniques on a month-to-month basis. Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience/training may be used to meet total experience requirements. INVESTIGATION OF FITNESS : A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment. The purpose of such an investigation is to secure evidence of the candidate's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U. S. Government. Such investigations will be conducted under the security requirements of the hiring agency. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS The duties of these positions require moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature. The following medical requirements apply to all applicants: good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to hear the conversational voice. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
