About the Position: About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and child care available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties

Repair components on air conditioning equipment such as compressors and pumps by dismantling and reassembling. Read and interpret refrigerant tables to check proper systems operation. Use vacuum pumps, recovery units, manifolds gauges, and dial-a-charges to charge and/or transfer refrigerants in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Troubleshooting electric/electronic subassemblies of air conditioning and refrigeration system (i.e. power supplies, motors, and monitoring and control components) to isolate faults.

• This position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
• This position requires incumbent to work on rotating shifts, and/or weekends.
• This position requires successful completion of pre-placement medical examinations.
• This position require Incumbent to be subject to "Call Back" overtime work and pre-planned overtime work.
• This position requires Incumbent to participate in Temporary Duty Travel (TDY).
• This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain Universal Certification in accordance with section 608 CAA 1994, as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F. Certification must be uploaded at time of application.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Air Conditioning Mechanic (MVO) without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform the common duties/tasks associated with the position as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic: assisting with the installation of commercial and/or industrial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Performing routine tasks associated with the maintenance and limited repairs of industrial and/or commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and equipment. Detecting leaks on equipment and making electrical connections; working with refrigerant in accordance with EPA standards. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Incumbents regularly stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Constant kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping and walking are required. Works in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and in close quarters. Frequently lift and move equipment, components, or material weighing up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are lifted with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Incumbent may climb in, on, and under vehicles and other large, mechanized equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, camp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. May be subject to exposure of hazardous material. May require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, hard hats, gloves, masks, etc. Steel toed shoes are always required.
