This position is located at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Hospital in Montrose, NY. The position plans and directs the Electric shop program by serving as a technical and administrative supervisor over the section The position exercises full supervisory responsibility over work operations involving the maintenance, repair, modification, renovation, and new construction of various building components.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operates and maintains emergency generators, main feeder lines, utility distribution systems, dry and oil cooled transformers, building and street lights, electrical controls, motors, pumps, electrical circuits, etc.;
Performs routine and non-routine maintenance;
Reviews scopes of work and contractor performance to ensure that work conforms to the contract drawings and specifications;
Inspects work performed by subordinates;
Determines equipment, supplies and maintenance required;
Investigates work related problems and implements corrective action;
Uses test equipment (e.g. volt-ohm meter, amp meter, safety analyzer, test board, mega ohm meter, etc.);
Interprets building plans, blue prints, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and engineering diagrams;
Maintains emergency generator testing and documentation;
Establishes work priorities and deadlines;
Plans work schedules;
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The work requires repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The position frequently handles, lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Occasionally, he/she may lift and carry items that weigh over seventy-five (75) pounds. The work is performed in all areas of the medical center environment, including general, medical and, inpatient units, inside and outside, and is often dirty, dusty, and greasy. Incumbent is sometimes required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather and in work areas that are noisy.
