About the Position: You will work under the general supervision of the Army Community Service (ACS) Director in the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response & Prevention (SHARP) program. You will service as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
Duties
Serve as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
Conduct assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services.
Ensure victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures.
Accompany victims and provides support in securing medical treatment, safe shelter, protective orders, court hearings, educational, transportation, financial services, and follow-up assistance.
Provide support before, during and after trials. Conducts interactive training workshops/seminars to victims, community agencies and the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Your background will be checked against records maintained by multiple agencies prior to appointment and, as appropriate, on a recurring basis while employed.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Successful completion of a 7-week SHARP Training Course and receiving DOD certification within 6-months of employment is required. Failure to obtain the DOD certification within the six months may be grounds for removal.
- This position is subject to overseas deployment. This position may require the incumbent to deploy to an overseas location with the assigned unit for an extended period of time.
- The incumbent is required to take and pass a military standard physical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployment location.
- This is an Emergency-Essential (E-E) position which cannot be vacated in the event of hostilities or mobilization. Incumbent must be exempt from military recall status.
- This position requires travel to other duty locations 50% annually.
- Position is Mission Essential.
- This position requires the employee to operate a motor vehicle. A valid state driver's license is required.
- Position is subject to Drug Testing; prior to entrance on duty and annually thereafter.
- Position is designated as a Public Trust position and requires a Moderate Background Investigation once placed into the position.
- This an "ON CALL" position.

BASIC EDUCTIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position;
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field;
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (NOTE: you must submit copies of your transcripts with your application package).
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience: providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment; conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs, risks and/or for referral; AND conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment to a variety of audiences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07.
OR
EDUCATION: To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a completed Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, ands abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as a behavioral or social science degree. OR
Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet qualification requirements. Education must be in behavioral/social sciences or related to the duties of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
