THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (TRAINING SPECIALIST) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2161000 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.

Duties

As a Secuirty Specialist ( Training Specialist), GS-0080-09, you will review all operations, mobility, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure combat readiness for the SF Squadron; analyze exercise and contingency plans to determine required SF actions in support of mission requirements; evaluate all equipment, manning and training requirements to meet wartime, contingency, deployment, and pre-planned tasking; coordinate with other base organizations on applicable plans; manage the development of plans for deployment, disaster preparedness, base recovery, contingency response, and other related plans; prepare, update, and review the SF portion of the base deployment, disaster preparedness, base recovery, contingency response, and related plans; compile information by identifying shortfalls and recommending corrective actions to Status of Resources and Training System (SORT) monitor on the status of SF personnel and training in all three classified reports; serve as the SF commander's key staff member responsible for the overall management of the unit-training program by overseeing the planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating all unit training related items; serve as the subject matter expert and consultant to the unit commander on all matters pertaining to the availability and management of the SF training program to meet the needs of the organization and mission; develop, administer, and oversee the management of the unit's training programs to supervisors; perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation. MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted: E6 & below TEMPORARY PROMOTION- For Title 32 selectees only: This is an indefinite position dependent upon funding. T32 employees will be placed on a temporary promotion and will retain their permanent status. This position may be converted to permanent without further competition if funding is available. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT-Current Title 5 selectees and State National Guard Members (Not Current Onboard T32 Technician) This is an indefinite position dependent on funding, selectee will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). The incumbent may be terminated at any time within this period upon a 30-day notice andwill have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. This position may be converted to permanent, without further competition if funding becomes available. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT: This is an obligated position. This position will be filled as an excepted indefinite appointment for an unspecified period of time not to exceed 30 September 2021. The incumbent may be terminated at any time within this period upon a 30-day notice. If an individual employed in the excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment. the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to his/her former position or any other position. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience managing the Security Forces Squadron program to include Air Expeditionary Force deployment training and formal skill development training programs.; providing guidance and recommendations to the squadron commander on all aspects of military personnel management, budget, and training analysis to support Security Forces operational programs, as well as, training and/or training resources to drill status personnel. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS09 must have at least 24 months experience in commonly used methods, procedures, regulations and other guides that relate to training programs within the applicable Security Forces career field; have the knowledge and skill to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems; developing, analyzing, and evaluating security training programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security-training program for the installation; defining problem areas and in application of conventional training program management principles and concepts; experience in the logistics plans and support functions that interrelate with the Security Forces work requirements.
