Duties

Health risk identification, assessment, and control. Plan routine and non-routine drinking water sampling events in conjunction with (or in the absence of) the program manager. Perform various duties to assess work practices and environmental conditions for health hazards to the workers. Provide technical support and assistance to the environmental health officer, occupational health officer, and installation radiation safety officer. Conduct surveys, analyzing findings, recommending implementation measures to control the health hazard or condition and preparing various reports. Act under the direction of the Environmental Health Officer (EHO) and provides expert knowledge on Environmental Health (EH) program, specifically the water program and its many facets. Report all water quality findings to the appropriate departments in conjunction with (or in the absence of) the program manager. Compile accurate, detailed routine and non-routine drinking water reports to the state before the deadline to be monitored and QA/QC'd by the EHO.

Requirements

• Tier 3: This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting environmental health sanitation surveys or investigations; identifying potential health hazards; making recommendations to correct deficiencies and reduce risks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NJ-01). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as, Business Administration, Public Management, Human Resources and Healthcare Administration or similar field of study. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
