About the Position: As a construction control representative you will be responsible for assigned function of surveillance, wide-scope monitoring, inspection of civil works, military construction, and interagency projects including construction of flood control structure, environmental mitigation, testing structures, equipment installation, water treatment plants, mechanical, and electrical components.
Duties
Performs bid-ability, constructability, operability, environmental and sustainability reviews of plans and specifications.
Participates in or conducts site showings and pre-construction conferences.
Observes and investigates construction at all stages to identify conformance and/or concerns.
Inspects contractor workmanship, equipment and materials in order to recognize and identify deviations from contract requirements.
Reviews as-built drawings to ensure changes in plans and specifications have been accurately noted.
Compiles data and prepares a variety of correspondence and reports.
Ensures strict adherence to safety provisions of the contract and that the contractor?s safety program is effective.
Detects and ensures the correction of unsafe conditions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Driver's license.
- Must use and wear personal protective equipment.
- Major duties require work in the exterior elements with adverse weather conditions and/or heat or cold.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting plans and specifications; inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with contractual requirements; reviewing contractor-submitted documents for accuracy and adequacy; and furnishing field information for construction progress. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
