These positions are located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, San Carlos Irrigation Project in Coolidge, Arizona.
The vacancy announcement for these positions is open until filled. Applications will be reviewed every 15 days, as needed.
Duties
Responsible for Control of transmission and distribution substation systems. Monitors and ensures proper operation of equipment as well as the operation of substation equipment including transformers, breakers, disconnects, etc.
Receives, troubleshoots, prioritizes and dispatches appropriate personnel and equipment for all emergency and nonemergency calls for SCIP during business hours and non-business hours.
Operation of substation equipment including transformers, breakers, disconnects, etc.; issues
emergency and routine switching orders based on loading limits of high voltage lines
and other equipment.
Maintains logs and other system reports generated through the Energy Management
System (EMS); completes and distributes outage reports; maintains system outage
database and customers count databases; generates and maintains reports daily,
weekly and monthly.
Responsible for the safe switching operations, including writing and reviewing the
switching related documentation and the roles and responsibilities including permits
and barriers, locking and tagging, common switching operation tasks, the practical
checks before and after switching apparatus and switching related hazards etc.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability To Do The Work Of Substation Operator Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)
Knowledge of Power Transmission and distribution systems
Ability to plan and control power distribution
Ability to operate control boards, generators, and remote circuit breakers and equipment
Ability to interpret operating instruction, load requests, and priority lists to plan load-shedding schedules, balance capacitance and reactive loads.
Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
